1st September
Peng Ee receiving a cheque of RM$30K from Madam Loh Geok Poh for setting up a scholarship fund to help students in our Work Skills Study (WSS) Programme.
The WSS Programme, a joint effort by Fourier Technical Consultants, SAMENTA and Penang Science Cluster, assists poor, vocationally inclined students to pursue a City & Guilds Technical Certification while working full time in SMEs. This scheme benefits Form 5 school leavers (a technical career in front of them), parents (no need to worry about funding their child’s education) and SMEs (workforce stability).
Madam Loh Geok Poh is a strong believer in education. As poor as she was, selling economy rice in Rifle Range flats, she resourcefully managed to put some of her children through to a university education. The Loh Geok Poh Scholarship fund continues her efforts in education for those in need.
PSC salutes Madam Loh and thanks her for her donation. PSC also thanks Chow for setting this up.
